Welcome to my personal blog…well, more like my personal blog 2.0. It’s kind of a funny story (actually, it’s not particularly funny but I’m going to tell you anyways, because it’s what led me to this point).
I launched my first blog during my first semester of college in 2014. I followed the insistent advice of one of my journalism professors, who told our class at the end of almost every lecture that if any of us had even an inkling of desire to be a professional journalist or a writer in any capacity, we needed to start a blog and post to it on a regular basis.
Lucky for me, writing has been my first love since childhood, so this gave me just the burst of motivation I needed to strengthen my writing and to make sure I had a creative outlet during the many tiring months that lay ahead.
So create a blog, I did. Sometimes my posts were existential wonderings about the world, and other times they were more lighthearted — my very first post was an album review of Taylor Swift’s 1989 with cat GIFs that were meant to represent my reaction to every song. Take from that what you will.
But update the blog frequently…I did not. As the years went on, the commitments of college became much more demanding of my time, and I neglected my creative fire when it needed fueling the most. Graduation came and went in the blink of an eye, and suddenly I had more free time on my hands than I knew what to do with.
I started thinking about writing again, and with feeling more settled into the “adult” world and the start of the new year, I decided to go for it. No more excuses. No more worrying that nobody in the world would care what I have to say (so what?), obsessing over every last detail, or fretting that I would fail. I was, and still am, determined to make this commitment and run the lifestyle blog I’ve always dreamed of.
So, here we are! It took quite a while to get here, but I am excited to get back to my creative roots and see where this leads. I want this space to be a digital embodiment of who I am, what matters to me, and where my heart lies right now. I want it to align with my intention word of 2019: “connect,” whether that means reconnecting with myself on a deeper level or forming connections with new people over my content — hopefully lots of both!
The blog will be a work in progress as I work out a few kinks and figure out the design elements, but one thing I can promise is that it will be updated regularly, however I can fit it into my schedule. Expect posts about spirituality, a few of my favorite things (music, books, home decor, you name it), recaps of adventures with friends and loved ones, musings about this life, and much more!
If you’re interested, I hope you’ll stick around and embark on this journey with me!
